My husband and I have been thinking about adopting a new dog for awhile -- we lost our Husky almost 3 years ago, and miss having a dog.But we also have two small kids and a cat, and worried about finding an adult dog who could fit into the household without too much stress. Our Husky was an adult rescue, and we worked through several issues with him as a young adult, so we knew "adult" didn't necessarily mean "easy." We decided a puppy was probably the best way to go fo... Continue reading...

Received March 16, 2012 I don’t know if you remember me, but my family and I adopted Max in 2009 from Animal Harbor. Below is a picture of him just in case you don’t remember him. I just wanted to let you know that Max is doing great, and he is still a much, much loved part of our family. I was thinking about you all because it has been almost 3 years ago that we adopted him, and I would like to send in a small donation to the shelter, because we are still so grateful that we are able to h... Received Feb 2, 2012Hi Amber Here is our little Trip (formerly Tito). This first picture was taken on a day-trip to the University of Bowling Green in Ohio where our daughter is.He was a big hit on campus! He is also enrolled in a puppy class at our local dog training group in Ann Arbor, MI. Last week the teacher used him as a demo puppy! He was brilliant. He is very good at 'sit', and is learning 'lay-down' very well. He does really well with 'come' (as long as you have his attention!) and we... Continue reading...

Received Dec. 30, 2011 Thank you so much. I worried about him the first couple of days. He
stayed hidden and I only saw signs of him using his litter box and
eating from his bowl. But by Christmas morning when my husband and I
were drinking coffee in bed, he came out and started playing with us.
Now he is staying out and making himself at home and is very playful. I
am so glad that I saw the e-mail and was able to give Mistletoe a home.

Received Dec. 9, 2011 Just a note to let you know that we are thoroughly enjoying "Kitten Purry." She does purr all the time, and she has yet to make friends of "Buster" our tomcat. Think he is very, very jealous. BUT, no problem, he can't catch her. She is just too fast. She has a good home, and my grandson thinks she is grand; and he has never really liked cats. Hope all of you have a wonderful and joyful Christmas. Pat M. and "Stormy" Kitten Purry (Now named Stormy) by my 6-year-old g... Continue reading...

Received Jan. 10, 2012 Hi! I just made a donation online and also wanted to send you a picture of Zeus, the cocker spaniel we adopted there in the Summer of 2009. We had some adjustment at the beginning getting our other older dogs used to him, but we really worked with them and now they’re all good buddies. We also have a baby now and Zeus and him are best friends and play together all the time. We can’t imagine life without him! Heather
